La <strong>chute<\/strong> de deux <strong>unit\u00e9s de pH<\/strong> apr\u00e8s la dissolution du CO<sub>2<\/sub> a clairement d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que l\u2019<strong>augmentation du CO<sub>2<\/sub> dissous<\/strong> rend la <strong>solution plus acide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En effet, le CO<sub>2<\/sub> dissous r\u00e9agit avec l&rsquo;eau pour former de l&rsquo;<strong>acide carbonique<\/strong>, ce qui entra\u00eene une <strong>baisse du pH<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Cette exp\u00e9rience illustre l\u2019importance de la <strong>chimie<\/strong> dans la compr\u00e9hension des <strong>processus industriels <\/strong>et <strong>environnementaux<\/strong>. Elle pr\u00e9pare les \u00e9l\u00e8ves \u00e0 devenir des <strong>op\u00e9rateurs<\/strong> industriels responsables, capables de reconna\u00eetre et de g\u00e9rer l\u2019<strong>impact environnemental<\/strong> de leurs actions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L\u2019acidification des oc\u00e9ans : un d\u00e9fi global<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>L\u2019exp\u00e9rience r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par ces futurs professionnels refl\u00e8te un probl\u00e8me \u00e9cologique majeur : l\u2019<strong>acidification des oc\u00e9ans<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9 par l\u2019<em>industrialisation<\/em> et la <em>d\u00e9forestation<\/em>, qui <strong>augmentent les niveaux de CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/strong> dans l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re, une partie de ce gaz se dissolvant ensuite dans les oc\u00e9ans. La r\u00e9action chimique qui en r\u00e9sulte <strong>augmente l\u2019acidit\u00e9 de l\u2019eau<\/strong>, avec des c<strong>ons\u00e9quences d\u00e9sastreuses<\/strong> pour <strong>la vie marine<\/strong>, en particulier pour les <strong>esp\u00e8ces \u00e0 coquilles<\/strong> (hu\u00eetres, palourdes, &#8230;) ou \u00e0 <strong>squelettes calcaires<\/strong> (coraux,  oursins).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Les \u00e9tudes scientifiques estiment que de 1950 \u00e0 2021, le<strong> pH des eaux superficielles des oc\u00e9an<\/strong>s a <strong>diminu\u00e9<\/strong>, passant de <strong>8,15 \u00e0 8,05<\/strong>. Cette baisse du pH signifie que les oc\u00e9ans sont devenus environ <strong>30 % plus acides<\/strong> qu&rsquo;\u00e0 la p\u00e9riode pr\u00e9industrielle.<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdebalzac.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Acidification-vision-2.png\" alt=\"Une repr\u00e9sentation saisissante et obs\u00e9dante de l\u2019acidification des oc\u00e9ans due \u00e0 l\u2019industrialisation et \u00e0 la d\u00e9forestation. L\u2019eau est trouble et acide, regorgeant d\u2019une vie marine en difficult\u00e9, tandis que les arbres terrestres sont impitoyablement abattus. Un sombre coucher de soleil jette un voile de d\u00e9sespoir sur la sc\u00e8ne, soulignant l\u2019urgence de s\u2019attaquer \u00e0 ces probl\u00e8mes environnementaux.
